Metropolis (1927, Fritz Lang) Photo by Horst von Harbou.
Filmed using the Schüfftan Process, a precursor of the bluescreen. The technique used mirrors to create the illusion of live actors in huge sets (which in actuality were miniatures of scenery composed of painted or modeled backgrounds).
Very cool.
By the way, I’m in the Rockies now, and they’re also cool. It’s not a bad environment for artistic growth. I’ll [attempt to] set aside some time to post about some of the artists and photographers I’ve discovered who’ve managed to capture nature in a non-cliche way.

I love “Metropolis”! Without “Metropolis” there wouldn’t be a modern-day sci-fi genre.
